Astartes II arrives on Warhammer+ this December

Games Workshop has shown a teaser for the sequel to Syama Pedersen's legendary animation: Deathwatch and Terminators in tight corridors, premiering on Warhammer TV in December.

At the Big Autumn Preview on 18 September, Games Workshop showed a teaser for Astartes II — the sequel to the short film Syama Pedersen made single-handedly as a fan project in 2018–2019. After its success, Games Workshop brought him in to make an official follow-up. It premieres in December 2026 on Warhammer TV and will be available with a Warhammer+ subscription.

What the teaser shows

The teaser features the Deathwatch and Terminators: narrow corridors, helmet spotlights, storm bolter barrels and a crackling power fist — the atmosphere is unmistakably that of a space hulk. At least three different characters from different Chapters appear; one unhelmeted veteran is, in Warhammer Community's words, someone who "could certainly be described as grizzled".

One caveat: according to Games Workshop, these are not clips from the film itself but a compilation of scenes from the former lives of the characters we will meet in it. Also confirmed: Astartes II will be significantly longer than the original. The exact runtime and premiere day have not been announced yet.

What to read before December

The Deathwatch are kill teams of veterans drawn from many Space Marine Chapters to hunt the alien. To get into the subject before the premiere, our catalog has Steve Parker's two novels about Kill Team Talon and a novel set aboard a space hulk.
